Kawagoe retains a lot of cultural monuments and buildings from the Edo period (1603-1868) and is full of strong Edo charm. Located north of Tokyo in Saitama Prefecture, Kawagoe can be reached in about half an hour from Tokyo, making it a great day-trip destination.
